Vision without execution is just hallucination! These words of Thomas Alva Edison ring so true to what I truly believe in – Talk is cheap and one is truly valued by what you do. In my case, it’s to do what I promised my team and my investors: build quality, eco and enviro-friendly renewable energy projects. I head Soham Energy which has conceptualised, constructed and commissioned two hydro electric power plants and we are in the process of implementing five others. We pride on building credibility and this is possible by building quality assets. And to develop world-class projects, you have to associate yourselves with the best in the business. Therefore, though small, we only deal with the best such as Tata’s (engineering) and SBI (our lead bankers) to name a few. We also believe in transparency with our investors and have the company audited by two (KPMG & Ernst & Young) of the BIG Four. All this has helped us raise finances from the world’s leading investors. In 2011, we raised our latest round from a consortium that included Macquarie (one of the world’s largest infra funds), SBI and IFC Washington (part of World Bank group). This will help us in not only executing our current portfolio but will also help us in making acquisitions that will take us among the Top Three in the Indian Renewable space. Finally, what is close to every employee of Soham is the fact that we touch close to 9000 lives of rural school going children on a daily basis through our programmes at Soham Foundation. I never give up. It is this compulsiveness that keeps me going as Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Soham. What’s also helping me is my qualification as an industrial engineer and background as a serial entrepreneur – my previous forays included energy conservation systems, e-validation services and fostering IT education. Being an alumnus of Harvard University and graduating as Class Valedictorian from the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University, has helped me take a world view of things. I love meeting new people. Which is why you will find me as a Member of The Young Presidents Organisation (YPO) Bangalore Chapter and Entrepreneurs Organisation (EO), which i helped found over a decade ago and served as their President and Area Director of all India chapters. I now serve the YPO Bangalore Chapter Board as its Co Education Chair besides being on the India Alumni Advisory Board and the Global Alumni Council for The Fuqua School of Business, Duke University. Being successful to me is about being a good son, husband, father, brother, employer, friend and citizen. I am Sanjith Sadanand Shetty. Thank you for helping me keep Soham on song.

Looking at renewable power transmission line difficulties

Renewable energy developers are worried that transmission facilities are not keeping pace with power generation even as 12,000 MW of solar projects under construction and another 7,000 MW of wind projects have been bid out since wind auctions began in February 2017. Let's Go 100% Renewable Energy
